The Rigicon Infla10™ is a three-piece inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) engineered to deliver spontaneous, reliable erections with a natural flaccid profile. Developed by Rigicon — a company founded by urological surgeons specifically to advance IPP technology — the Infla10 introduces a series of innovations that address the most common limitations of first-generation devices: girth uniformity, sizing flexibility, and infection risk.
Who Is Rigicon?
Rigicon was established by a team of specialised urological surgeons who identified unmet needs in penile prosthetics and set out to resolve them from the ground up. Rather than adapting existing platforms, the company engineered the Infla10 as a purpose-built system with direct surgeon input at every design stage. This surgical-first philosophy is reflected in the device's approach to cylinder geometry, pump ergonomics, and coating chemistry.
How the Infla10 System Works
Like all three-piece IPPs, the Infla10 relies on three interconnected components that work together to create and release an erection:
1. Dual-Chamber Cylinders
Two cylinders are placed within the corpora cavernosa — the natural erectile chambers of the penis. When fluid is pumped in, the cylinders expand uniformly along their full length, producing consistent girth and rigidity from base to tip. The cylinders are manufactured from a high-strength, medical-grade silicone elastomer designed to withstand repeated inflation and deflation cycles over many years.
2. Low-Profile Reservoir
A fluid-filled reservoir is placed in the space of Retzius in the lower abdomen. The Infla10 reservoir uses a high-cycle silicone construction and is available in multiple fill volumes to accommodate varying anatomical requirements. Its low-profile design reduces palpability and facilitates placement in patients who have undergone prior pelvic surgery.
3. XPUMP™ Scrotal Pump
The XPUMP™ is positioned in the scrotum and features a large, ergonomically shaped button that is easy to locate and operate, even in patients with reduced manual dexterity. Inflation requires several firm squeezes; deflation is achieved with a single press of the release valve. A lock-out mechanism prevents unintended auto-inflation.
InfiniSize™ Girth Enhancement Technology
One of the most clinically significant features of the Infla10 is the InfiniSize™ system. Traditional IPP cylinders expand to a predetermined maximum girth set at the time of manufacture. InfiniSize™ allows the operating surgeon to fine-tune the final inflated diameter intraoperatively by adjusting the cylinder's outer sleeve — providing a degree of girth customisation not available in conventional devices.
This is particularly relevant for patients who are concerned about post-implant size outcomes, for revision cases where the corporal tissue may have changed, and for men with larger corpora who previously felt constrained by standard cylinder dimensions.
- Intraoperative girth adjustment without changing cylinder model
- Reduces the need for multiple cylinder sizes in theatre
- Consistent expansion from proximal to distal end
- Compatible with standard rear tip extenders (RTEs) for length adjustment
HydroFlex™ Hydrophilic Coating
Prosthetic infection is the most serious complication following IPP surgery, carrying significant physical and psychological consequences. To minimise this risk, the Infla10 is coated with HydroFlex™ — a hydrophilic surface treatment that absorbs antibiotic solution when soaked in the operating theatre prior to implantation.
The activated coating releases antibiotics locally at the implant surface, creating an antimicrobial barrier precisely where bacteria are most likely to colonise. Clinical evidence for hydrophilic coatings consistently demonstrates a reduction in device infection rates compared to uncoated prostheses. The surgeon prepares the HydroFlex™ coating by soaking the device in a chosen antibiotic solution for a minimum of two minutes before implantation.

Who Is a Candidate for the Infla10?
The Rigicon Infla10 is indicated for men with erectile dysfunction that has not responded adequately to oral medications (PDE5 inhibitors such as sildenafil or tadalafil), vacuum erection devices, or intraurethral/intracavernosal therapy. Common underlying conditions include:
- Vascular erectile dysfunction — arterial or venous insufficiency causing unreliable or absent erections
- Diabetic erectile dysfunction — ED in men with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, who typically have lower response rates to oral medication
- Post-radical prostatectomy ED — nerve-sparing or non-nerve-sparing prostatectomy resulting in persistent erectile failure
- Peyronie's disease — penile curvature combined with ED, where the IPP can straighten and restore function simultaneously
- Post-priapism fibrosis — corporal scarring following priapism that prevents natural erection
- Psychogenic ED refractory to other treatment — select cases where all conservative measures have failed
The Surgical Procedure
Infla10 implantation is performed under general or spinal anaesthesia and typically takes 60 to 90 minutes in experienced hands. The standard approach is a penoscrotal or infrapubic incision, through which the surgeon dilates the corpora cavernosa, measures the corporal length, selects the appropriate cylinder and rear tip extender combination, and places the reservoir and pump.
The InfiniSize™ girth adjustment is made before final cylinder placement, allowing the surgeon to confirm optimal fit with the patient on the table. All three components are connected, tested for correct inflation and deflation, and the incision is closed in layers.
Most patients are discharged the same day or the following morning. The pump is left in the inflated position for the first 24 hours post-operatively, then cycled daily after the surgeon's instructions to prevent adhesions during healing.
Recovery and Return to Activity
Recovery from IPP surgery follows a predictable timeline for the majority of patients:
- Days 1–7: Swelling and mild discomfort managed with oral analgesics. Light walking encouraged.
- Weeks 2–4: Return to sedentary work. Continued daily pump cycling as directed.
- Weeks 4–6: Most patients may resume driving and light physical activity.
- 6–8 weeks: Sexual activity can typically resume once the surgeon confirms satisfactory healing at follow-up.
Full softening and natural feel of the device generally improve over the first three to six months as the surrounding tissue accommodates the prosthesis.
Surgeon Experience: The Most Important Variable
The Rigicon Infla10 — like any penile prosthesis — is a tool, and its outcomes are strongly correlated with the experience and volume of the implanting surgeon. Studies consistently show that complication rates, revision rates, and patient satisfaction scores are significantly better when surgery is performed by high-volume IPP surgeons who implant 30 or more devices per year.
Assoc. Prof. Tuncay Taş performs penile prosthesis implantation exclusively, with over 400 procedures per year. His familiarity with multiple IPP platforms — including the Rigicon Infla10, AMS 700™, and Titan® — allows him to recommend the device best suited to each patient's anatomy, medical history, and goals rather than defaulting to a single system.
How Does the Infla10 Compare to the AMS 700™ and Titan®?
All three devices are three-piece inflatable systems with strong clinical track records. The choice between them is primarily driven by anatomical considerations, prior surgical history, and individual patient goals:
- The AMS 700™ offers the longest-standing post-market safety data and the InhibiZone® dual-antibiotic coating.
- The Titan® features Bioflex® material allowing for a slightly softer flaccid state and a well-established hydrophilic coating.
- The Rigicon Infla10 is distinguished by the InfiniSize™ girth adjustment, which is unique to this platform and particularly relevant for patients prioritising girth outcomes or requiring revision surgery.
No single device is universally superior. The best implant is the one chosen collaboratively by an experienced surgeon and a well-informed patient.
